"The paintings were widely recognized as the best of Picasso's achievements during the war," said Serota.

Picasso met Walter in 1927. However, the relationship stays the meeting of Picasso's wife, Olga Khokhlova, a ballerina from Russia.

According to Tate's auction house, since 1931 until 1932, Picasso began to carve and paint work that is explicit and erotic manipulation of the body of Walter.
